Welcome

Dear members of the National Bailliage de Russie of the Chaine des Rotisseurs and our friends,

I am most happy to welcome you on the official website of Bailliage de Russie.

Last year, from 22-25 September, our jubilee, the 10th Grand Chapitre took place in Saint Petersburg. It was a historical and memorial event. One of the highlights was the firing of the cannon on the walls of the Peter and Paul Fortress, on Saturday at 12 noon by guest of honour and Inducting officer, George Brown, Member of the Conseil d'Administration, Bailli Delegue of the USA, in presence of visiting members and guests from Singapore, Indonesia, Lebanon, South Africa, USA, Sweden, as well as of course, as those from Russia.

The programme started on Thursday with the traditional welcome dinner held in Vodka Room No 1 combined with a tour in the Vodka museum. On Friday the group travelled by boat to Peterhof and Konstantinovsky Palace which reopened in 2003 when world-leaders came to Saint Petersburg to celebrate the City's 300th Anniversary. The lunch was served in the new Summer  Palace (opened 3 years ago). In the evening there was cultural/theater programme followed by an after-theater dinner in the Caviar Bar of the Grand Hotel Europe. On Saturday, lunch was served aboard the restored New Island floating restaurant, followed by sightseeing around the City, including a visit to Hermitage. The Induction Ceremony was held on Saturday in the golden theater of the Yusupov Palace.Coctails followed the ceremony, and a splendid Diner de Gala was served to the air of a special programme of music. The Palace was one of five that the Yusupovs, Russia's then wealthiest family had in Saint Petersburg prior to the Revolution. It is also notorious because, in the cellars , the young Felix Yusupov killed the famous preacher and religious healer, Gregory Rasputin.
