Master class with Mr. Riedel

Master-class with Georg Riedel 'PALKIN' restaurant, 25 May 2004
On May 28 Georg Riedel gave a master-class for members of the Chaine des Rotisseurs Club. This was a tasting workshop at the 'Palkin' restaurant, where Georg Riedel told participants how a wineglass helps to enjoy wine. Everybody could compare effects of different kinds of stemware and see that 'RIEDEL' glasses really highlight each wine's finest elements. Sets of three handmade crystal 'RIEDEL' glasses were provided by the BULTHAUP Design Gallery representing the 'RIEDEL GLASS' company in St. Petersburg. The 'WHITE HALL' company provided wines selected by Georg Riedel himself. There were three kinds of wine: first came white, burgundy Meursault 1999 Joseph Drouhin, then two red wines, burgundy Chambolle Musigny Premier Cru 1999 Joseph Drouhin and chilean Don Melchor Cabernet Sauvignon. The colour of red burgundy is lighter than chilean's, because it is produced of Pinot Noir grapes whose thin skins give a quiet tone, while Cabernet Sauvignon grapes essential for many Chilean wines create dark claret colors. Contemporary wines have no deposit and should be decanted before pouring into glasses, to initiate oxidation and reveal the flavour. Together with members of the Gastronomes Guild the holy sacraments from Georg Riedel shared Olga Luzina.
